Irie’s Gold is small-batch, local, raw, Illinois wildflower honey.

The name Irie came to our lexicon while founder Anthony and his wife Maureen were on their honeymoon in Jamaica in 2001. Irie means “everything is everything, nothing is missing”. They loved the name so much that they named their first dog Irie. When they found the old Plum Creek nursery for sale in 2013, they adopted the name for the farm.

Since the acquisition of the property no chemicals or artificial material have been applied to the land. We have steadily been eradicating invasive plants with the focused planting of native varieties. Since the introduction of honey bee colonies in 2016, we have seen our hives flourish.

Irie’s Gold, offered to you by Bee Haven is the end result of the Jamaican influence on their honeymoon.

HOW TO ENJOY:

To melt your honey, simply heat a pot of water on the stove, do not boil. Set the jar in the pot leaving the water at least an inch below the top of the jar. Leave in place until it liquefies, and enjoy!

THIS IS A RAW, UNPASTEURIZED FOOD. Please do not feed honey to infants.

While we do not claim to have organic honey due to the flight range of bees, we have maintained our 35 acres in an organic fashion. We prefer to think that the bees choose to stay where the environment suits them. Additionally, to further our efforts, we have secured the surrounding 50 acres to be converted to organic, further allowing them to forage safely.
