In partnership with The Chicago Region Trees Initiative, a division of the Morton Arboretum, The Hammond project is focused on restoring what once was a largely abandoned industrial wasteland, into a beautiful sanctuary, with the planting of over 20 trees by volunteers, including volunteers from the Village of Burnham, Green Grease Environmental, and the Orland Square Mall, we aim to create a lush and thriving habitat for pollinators. Other additions to this project included the planting of sunflowers in partnership with Sunflower City into the center of the parcel, to further boost viability, eco-diversity, and a sustainable food source for pollinators.
