Coneflower

Total Acreage: 0.10
Project Begun: 2022

The Coneflower project is our first residential pollinator sanctuary garden and habitat, located in the south Chicago suburb of Mokena, IL. The planting of this pollinator garden, like all habitat creation and restoration projects, is multiphase, and will reach maturity within 3-5 years. This project involved the removal of invasive species and noxious weeds, via controlled, targeted applications, followed by seeding and planting of the cleaned areas. Special thanks to Irie Farms for the donation of oak trees from its thriving native oak savannah, which will grow to provide beautiful and abundant habitat for pollinators. A variety of native grasses and flowering forbs were also planted. Approximately 520 plants were installed in this project.
